How to deal with stress when circumstances in our lives or others’ lives are being reshaped?  Modifications in our lives can impact and affect us all differently.  Whether it takes place in our
individual life or in the world we live in we all react, think and feel differently.  Some transformations that occur within the world we live results in some of us feeling joy, excitement and optimism.  However, the same transformation may leave others feeling despair, stress and gloom.

You are in control of how you choose to react, think and feel
about changes that are not pleasing to you.  The new government has caused many to feel despair and stress amongst many other emotions.  In spite of what some are feeling, they have taken action in protesting in hopes of stopping injustices and creating
change for the better.  This is an inspiration to all who are not
satisfied with how the new administration is trying to alter
America into something it should not be.

Life Changing

Tips

If you are not happy with the current situation and are feeling
stressed here are a few suggestions that may help you in alleviating your tension:

Remain POSITIVE in knowing the situation is not hopeless.  In uncertain times or circumstances it is important to keep a positive outlook.  Ask yourself what part can I play in helping to make the situation better.  Keep your thoughts upbeat.  Because in you being hopeful will create promising feelings; such as, optimism.  As a result, your actions and attitude will be more concrete in you making the situation better instead of worse.

Get INVOLVED utilizing your passion and enthusiasm to join with others to jumpstart creating change that has a victorious outcome.  Unity, passion and action can make things happen.  Stay optimistic and decide how you can be helpful in making life better for you and someone else.  You may not get the results you want the first time.  However, let it be a motivator for you not to give up and keep moving forward for what you believe in.

Practice SELF-CARE to ensure you are nurturing your physical, emotional and mental needs.  It is important to slow down, relax and re-energize so that you get relief from your burden and have the strength to keep moving forward in your journey.  Find time to spend on taking care of you by doing enjoyable activities that are relaxing.  Or simply do nothing at all, whichever will be most beneficial to you in restoring your physical, emotional and mental well-being.

PRAYER.  If you are spiritual and pray, then you know how powerful prayer can be in transforming your life and the world we live in.  You can practice praying according to your spiritual beliefs.  You can pray about the fortunate changes you desire for your family, others and the world to become a reality.  Remaining faithful in prayer can be life changing.

“Fervent prayers produce phenomenal results.”
~Woodrow Kroll

Worried about the future? Try out these strategies to be more resilient in the face of uncertainty.
Uncertainty in our lives can cause us to be stressed and left wondering which path to take, what decisions to make, or whether or not to respond at all.  Some of us can feel confused and stuck not knowing how to deal with it or move forward, if we have not developed emotional resilience.  How can you become more emotionally resilient when experiencing uncertainty?

Here are some strategies you may find useful:

Be Flexible

Many of us may have difficulty learning to “go with the flow.”  Some of the things that hold back our progress during these times are obstinacy, ego, limiting beliefs, expectations, and habits, which leads us to be resistant to change.  However, when the house you thought you would live in forever is destroyed in a fire or hurricane; the job you had been doing for years has been automated; or perhaps an agreement you hoped to make with a co-worker did not work out.  How are you going to deal with the situation and move forward?

All of a sudden, you feel heartbroken and devastated by it all and rightfully so.  However, you have to realize the truth about how your life is demanding you to take a different course and make a change.  In these situations, it is wiser to practice acceptance and acknowledge that the situation has changed your life.  The reality of it all is you do not control the world; you only control yourself.  Now, you are at a place where the only way to move forward is to adjust your attitude, shift your thoughts, manage your emotions, and create new dreams by being flexible and open-minded.

Deal With and Accept Discomfort

When we are navigating an unpredictable situation, most of us will feel somewhat doubtful about ourselves and the situation.  This is normal.  A good place to start in dealing with the uncertainty is to accept yourself, your emotions, and your situation.  Calm the inner voices of fear, blame, or resentment, and resist the urge to create drama around the uncertainty.  Assess the situation from a balanced place, realizing that it is Ok to feel genuinely uncomfortable at times. You will build emotional resilience if you use this time to practice accepting yourself despite the discomfort you feel.

Use Your Mistakes and Successes as a Guide

By allowing, exploring, and managing discomfort during uncertain circumstances can reveal something about yourself; you can grow; and become more emotionally resilient.  Trial and error is how we learn.  Once you adapt to being somewhat uncomfortable, you can apply yourself to the challenge at hand, which often triggers a flood of new ideas.  Explore the positive thoughts, emotions, and ideas.  Perhaps you will learn to speak up for yourself, or you may be forced to apply new approaches to the situation in uncertainty.

This can open up whole new avenues of experience for you that may enhance your coping skills, build resilience, and even expand the range of your resume with newly discovered abilities. Test out some new approaches to see what works in this situation. Do not be afraid to make mistakes, because they will make you more emotionally resilient if you are willing to learn from them.  By recognizing uncertainty as an opportunity for growth, you can more easily move through it to attain your desired goals. Ultimately, in short, resilience is how you journey through and adapt to adversity for creating a positive outcome.

Be Open-Minded to a Broader Perspective

Widen your field of vision by reviewing the past and imagining the future. Based on this perspective, envision various plans and estimate how they might unfold into the future.  Until, you discover a path that shows promise. Give that path of promise a shot.  If that one does not meet your goals, then do not hesitate to try another approach.  A shift in perspective can help you see the situation from a new point of view and try new solutions that make you more emotionally resilient in the future.

Collaborate With Others

Review your options and find others to help you.  Before moving forward with a plan of action, share your uncertainty, and brainstorm ideas for how to move forward with colleagues and friends.  Remain open to suggestions, but defend ideas that you really believe in with passion.  Afterwards, move forward knowing you have considered multiple options.

When Feeling Lost, Imitate Someone You Admire

Sometimes, we may feel dealing with the situation is too difficult or we are at a loss about how to proceed.  During these times, we do not feel very emotionally resilient.  One way to gain some clarity is to think of someone you admire and respect, then imagine what they might do in this situation.  For example, you might think about how your friend Linda, the most gracious and balanced person you know, maintains her poise in the face of crisis.  If her method is to listen attentively, speak slowly, and establish good eye contact while responding, then try it her way.  A shift in the way you act can help you think of ideas for how to be more emotionally resilient.

Practice Self-Compassion

In difficult moments, it is essential to practice self-compassion.  Be kind to yourself to maintain your self-confidence.  It is Ok to take some time to explore and release your tension and disappointment or take a break from your routine.  A walk or run in nature or just being in nature, may be helpful for processing your thoughts and releasing unexpressed emotions.  Also, eating more healthy, can help remind you of the importance of being kind to yourself. Once calm, research several options, and open your mind to all possibilities, so that a new avenue of experience can blossom for you.

Celebrate You and Your Successes

Once you have done all the work to discover your way through uncertain times and situations; you have initiated a plan that is working; or you picked yourself back up after a tough experience, then celebrate you and your successes with those who helped you achieve positive results.

Give yourself credit for a WIN that feels affirming, and let joy sweep into your heart.  Congratulate yourself and commit to continuing your success.  Practice being grateful for who you have been, as well as, who you are becoming. Emotional resilience is about more than recovering from challenges, it is about thriving in the face of those challenges.

Learn to Love Change and the Opportunities It Brings

Heraclitus once said: “The only thing that is constant is change.”  Besides, doing the same thing over and over can wear us down with its accumulative boredom.  Change breeds something different and potentially exciting. New efforts stimulate growth potential through new experiences. We are able to respond to the things in life that put us to the test. The more we exercise this muscle, the more we will feel invigorated by the variety of life and become more emotionally resilient.

Changing Your Life Coaching can support you in increasing your resilience by learning how to deal with uncertainty in regards to your future.
