How to deal with stress when circumstances in our lives or others’ lives are being reshaped?  Modifications in our lives can impact and affect us all differently.  Whether it takes place in our
individual life or in the world we live in we all react, think and feel differently.  Some transformations that occur within the world we live results in some of us feeling joy, excitement and optimism.  However, the same transformation may leave others feeling despair, stress and gloom. 

You are in control of how you choose to react, think and feel
about changes that are not pleasing to you.  The new government has caused many to feel despair and stress amongst many other emotions.  In spite of what some are feeling, they have taken action in protesting in hopes of stopping injustices and creating
change for the better.  This is an inspiration to all who are not
satisfied with how the new administration is trying to alter
America into something it should not be.

If you are not happy with the current situation and are feeling
stressed here are a few suggestions that may help you in alleviating your tension:

Remain POSITIVE in knowing the situation is not hopeless.  In uncertain times or circumstances it is important to keep a positive outlook.  Ask yourself what part can I play in helping to make the situation better.  Keep your thoughts upbeat.  Because in you being hopeful will create promising feelings; such as, optimism.  As a result, your actions and attitude will be more concrete in you making the situation better instead of worse.

Get INVOLVED utilizing your passion and enthusiasm to join with others to jumpstart creating change that has a victorious outcome.  Unity, passion and action can make things happen.  Stay optimistic and decide how you can be helpful in making life better for you and someone else.  You may not get the results you want the first time.  However, let it be a motivator for you not to give up and keep moving forward for what you believe in. 

Practice SELF-CARE to ensure you are nurturing your physical, emotional and mental needs.  It is important to slow down, relax and re-energize so that you get relief from your burden and have the strength to keep moving forward in your journey.  Find time to spend on taking care of you by doing enjoyable activities that are relaxing.  Or simply do nothing at all, whichever will be most beneficial to you in restoring your physical, emotional and mental well-being.

PRAYER.  If you are spiritual and pray, then you know how powerful prayer can be in transforming your life and the world we live in.  You can practice praying according to your spiritual beliefs.  You can pray about the fortunate changes you desire for your family, others and the world to become a reality.  Remaining faithful in prayer can be life changing.

How Influential Are You As A Leader?

Where does your influence rank as a leader?  One way to determine how influential you are as a leader is to examine how engaged your team is with you and their responsibilities.  When was the last time a team member approached you with an idea?  Do you know the project or career aspirations of each team member?  How excited are they about being part of your team and about you promoting their career growth?  

Lately, have you thought about how you are perceived as a leader?  Is your leadership style one that inspires and brings people together or does it downgrade and separate?  What does your team most admire about you?  What would you like your team to admire about you?  There are many aspects involved in being a leader. 

How to Be An Influencer

Here are a few ideas to consider in order to start motivating and winning over your team as an influencer . . .

Share the companies’ vision for the project and your vision for how you want to work together as a team in accomplishing it.  Create with your team some type of inspiration that can be spoken or seen on a daily basis that will inspire you and the team for what is to come and to keep working together to reach it.  Then once the project is successfully achieved the excitement and satisfaction of what you all accomplished collectively will be even greater.

Show your team that you care about their well-being
and any challenges they may experience in completing tasks, resolving issues, or with the team as a whole.  Your empathy will be greatly valued, which could result in your team being more willing to cooperate and have even more admiration for you.

Listen to what your team has to say.  Invite them to express what is working, not working, their preferences, solutions, and ideas regarding their job responsibilities and the project.  Include them in the decision-making process when appropriate, because they could have a new and innovative approach.  In you listening to them will more likely make them genuinely listen to you and view you more favorably.

Promote each team members’ career and professional development.  Show your interest by learning about their professional and career advancement goals.  Help them by making sure they are able to take training programs, gain new skills, knowledge, and experience that are relevant to their career aspirations.  Do what is in your power to support and give them the opportunity to accomplish their goals.  In you doing so is an act of leadership that most will always remember and be grateful for.

Be able to handle pressure well and remain calm during a crisis.  During times of difficulty the team looks to the leader to be steadfast and maintain their composure.  What would you think about your leader if you saw them have a meltdown during a dilemma?  Well, your team will probably think the same of you.  In you having self-control over your behavior and emotions, not blaming others, and working towards a solution is more admirable.  In you being composed, confident, and dependable for your team shows character and is more creditable, resulting in your team respecting you.
