Personal Characteristics Evaluation

Changing your life starts with you changing yourself.  Because you are the one that makes the decisions to take action in order to  bring about the change you want in your life.  What is it about you that you would like to change?  How do you go about boosting your personal development?

To begin improving upon any characteristics which you are not happy with, first start by doing an initial self-evaluation and identify what you would like change.

Mostly we know which aspects of our character we would like to enhance.  However, sometimes it takes someone else to point out which of our personality traits could use improvement.  You may not be aware that these behaviors are causing or could cause a problem for you in your relationships, obtaining opportunities or more.

Sometimes it is helpful to ask someone for constructive criticism in regards to how you interact with them and what they see when you interact with others.  You may not like what you hear, but you should consider possibly making a change based on their response, especially if you are receiving the same feedback from more than one person.

Once you have completed your personal evaluation and have received feedback from others, make a list of what you believe you need to improve on.

Achieving Personal Change

Here are a few suggestions for personal change you may want to consider for your personal development . . .

How is your attitude towards other people?
Are you impatient, lack compassion towards others, or always criticizing others?  Do you think you are always right and never try to understand other peoples’ point of view?

Attitude is incredibly important.  A friendly, helpful, patient, compassionate, and self-confident attitude will impress most people.  And will open doors of opportunity for you.

Changing your attitude can be accomplished with effort, time, and believing that you can change your behavior.  If you are not able to do it on your own, than find someone to partner with you who will help you be accountable for developing a more positive attitude.

How do you feel about yourself?  Do you lack self-confidence and self-esteem?  Do you hold back from doing your best at work, because you fear that someone else will make you look incompetent by doing it better?  Does the thought of someone rejecting your ideas bother you to the point of you not giving feedback?

Building your confidence and self-esteem helps you to change the way you think about yourself and performance at work.  It helps you to feel self-assured when dealing with healthy competition, sharing your ideas, and accepting helpful criticism.

Of course, boosting your confidence and self-esteem will require your desire to improve on these traits and dedication to continue working on it.

How do you feel about the way you represent yourself to your world?  Do you dislike the way you look, your wardrobe, does your personality show you lack certainty?

Making decisive changes on how you feel about yourself and how you present yourself will boost your confidence.  Because the better you feel about your appearance and self helps you to feel more competent.  Change your hairstyle, wardrobe, and attitude to dress for the role and or position you want to achieve in both your personal and professional life.

In addition, assess your professional life and determine what improvements could be made for reaching your next desired level.

Professional Assessment

Repeat the same process for your professional assessment, as you did for your personal evaluation and identify what changes you should make.

Keep in mind your desired career path and how you plan to achieve it.  Research what skills are needed and plan to make the necessary improvements both in character and talent, so that you are prepared when the opportunity presents itself.

Consider your skills and which ones you are proficient in.  Determine if your current abilities are sufficient for your aspirations.

Additionally, think about where you might fall short and what capabilities you could develop or what new skills you could learn which would present opportunities for your career path or a promotion?

Developing yourself personally and professionally is important for your future in more ways than one.  Prepare and continue to work towards your goals, especially when difficulties arise.

Change Your Life

Once you have completed your personal and professional evaluations and have identified the areas which you need improvement, then decide on a plan of action for how you will accomplish the necessary changes.

Challenge yourself by working on activities that will build your personal and professional development.  Especially on the activities which you would rather not do, but know you need to do.  Be honest with yourself about why you are lacking in certain characteristics, skills and what is holding you back.

Identifying your fears can be the first step for you to begin working towards what you know you need to do to overcome them.  Put any fear of failure you may have aside by working on smaller more manageable tasks in order to achieve your goals for developing or improving upon your skills and character.

If your life is overwhelming and you feel you need help with making changes in your life, then visit Complimentary Coaching Session to schedule your session, so that I can learn more about you and how coaching may help you in turning your personal and professional life around.  The session is a great way for both of us to determine whether or not we would be a good match for your coaching.
